Have you tried The JAY Effect ? They are an amazing local family that makes these low sodium flavorful seasonings locally, and pride themselves on never using additives or fillers.
We stopped by Neighborhood Co-op Grocery where they were set up with samples of turkey smoked with their seasonings! Keesha and I couldn't agree on which was our favorite. I loved the original and Keesha was all about their garlic & herbs. You will always find their seasoning in our cabinet and at many of your locally owned grocery stores. Check out their webpage for how you can get your hands on their seasonings! If you have tried them, what's your favorite one?

After seeing several posts we stopped by @carmen's cafe in Herrin for their Birria Pizza and their chicharonnes (pickled pork rinds) . The pizza was flavorful, and cheesy. I think I would have loved it more with some fresh onions and cilantro on top to break up the cheesiness and denseness of it all. Definitely needed a bigger cup of consume for all that pizza. The chicharonnes were great. With all the toppings, it was light, had a great variety of textures and flavors. I could have easily eaten more of that! I don't think I've seen Birria pizza elsewhere around here. Definitely stop by and check them out!

Stopped by Rob's Pit BBQ for a quick lunch. We had fried catfish, rib tips, and took a trip to their salad bar. The fish was well seasoned, the rib tips were super tender, juicy, flavorful and had a great crust! Salad bar was well stocked with my favs: cubed turkey and ham! 😃😃. They are located caddy corner from veterans airport in Marion.

Met a friend that's visiting, in Benton and had to have dinner at Seasoning Bistro and visit Troy and his team! We are excited about his new location. He promised us a tour soon!
We had their crab cakes and bread and butter appetizers, always a great start! I had their Tennessee Melt, 1/2 lb Kobe burger with house pimiento cheese and bacon jam. That melty cheese and sweet sticky jam went deliciously with the burger! Keesha had their pork ribeye, with broccoli and brussel sprouts.

Tandoor & Tadka: First Experience:
Had dinner at Tandoor & Tadka for their soft opening! They are located next to Don Sol in Carbondale and feature an expansive Indian menu that caters to a wide variety of palates. Their interior was modern and chick with tables for large groups.

We tried a whole bunch of items!
We started off with appetizers:
Gobi Manchurian Cauliflower
Mushroom bites
Veggie Platter
Bread Basket

Followed up with:
Mango chicken
Tandoori chicken
Tikka Masala with Goat
Cashew Mushroom Gravy

We ended dinner with their fantastic ice cream pops!

Food was fantastic and flavorful. The Gobi manchurian had great flavor and spice. The tandoori chicken came out on a sizzling hot plate, great presentation and a delicious dish. The goat was cooked well, and super tender. Literally every single dish was delicious, flavorful, seasoned well and had well balanced flavors. I loved every single dish. Absolutely no critiques on the food.

The pacing of the appetizers and entrees needed a little work, but it's their second day and they just finished with several large tables and a few smaller tables!! Great job to Navi and his staff!

This is a wonderful addition to the ever growing Carbondale food scene. Definitely add this to your list of must tries! Opens at 11A Everyday!

When you want a really good buffet you make the drive to Pistol City Restaurant for their all day buffet. Their food is always fresh, hot and clean. Everything is also made in house including their delicious pies!!

Stopped at St Nicholas Brewing Company MDH in Carb

Stopped at St Nicholas Brewing Company MDH in Carbondale for lunch with some friends.
Not only is it a great place to eat, it's fun to watch planes take off and fly around.

We started off lunch with cauliflower wings, elote dip and the loaded fries!

Then the fried fish sandwich, fish and chips and their street tacos with fries.

The elote dip has been one of my favorites since their opening night. The creamy dip with corn and shishito peppers is a must try. We tried the cauliflower wings and that was great as well, it was light, the batter nice and crispy. It does have a little kick so if you don't like spicy, you were warned! The fish sandwich was nice and flaky, same with the fish and chips!

The drinks were creative and tasty as well. I had the the guava mama, la Paloma and I tried out friends "secret garden" and that was fantastic as well.

It's definitely a must try if you haven't. It's the only brewery in an airport and a great place to drink and eat with friends!

Had to stock up on supplies in Paducah, stopped by La Juicy Paducah, KY for a little seafood boil.
I had the peeled shrimp, and scallops in the la juicy sauce. Keesha had the mussels and shrimp also in the la juicy sauce.
It's always a good consistent place to eat, Flavors are great, seafood is fresh and had a nice snap (fresh for the Midwest, I know you guys are gonna hit me with "no fresh seafood because we are in the Midwest") service and prices are reasonable. Two entrees and fried calamari was right under $70.

Huckleberry's Pub in Mounds Illinois.
We had the country fried steak and the catfish special. The fried steak was great, nice and crispy smothered in a super sausagy gravy. The catfish was well seasoned and just the right amount of crunch. Our sides were mash potatoes, Mac and cheese, and greens.

Me and Keesha tried out a new to us place! Pizza and Pasta Express in Carterville! It's a restaurant located across from Rise Performance on the main drag.

We ordered the deluxe double Decker pizza, chilli Mac tamale, and the garlic bread! I was pleasantly surprised by double decker pizza, the crust had a nice chew, the sauce was not too sweet. The tamale we ordered out of curiosity, but the tamale was able to shine past the delicious chili that was smothered and then baked over. It had great flavor and I will order it again.
